    Medical & HealthcareWebsite Design Australia

Medical websites have a harder job than most. They have to be compliant, accessible, fast on a bad connection, and clear enough that an anxious patient at midnight can find what they need without ringing after hours.

Common Problems With Medical Practice Websites

    1

Your booking system sits behind three clicks and half your patients give up and phone instead

    2

The site was built with patient testimonials, which breaches the AHPRA advertising guidelines

    3

New patients cannot tell which practitioners are taking new patients or what they bulk bill

    4

Practice hours, after hours arrangements and location details are inconsistent between your site and Google

    5

The site fails accessibility basics, which matters more in healthcare than almost anywhere else

If any of these sound familiar, we can fix it.

Melbourne Medical Centre Moves Bookings Online

    The Challenge

A four doctor medical centre in Melbourne's east had an ageing website with a booking link that opened in a new tab and looked nothing like the rest of the site. Reception was fielding over a hundred booking calls a week and the practice had no idea how many patients gave up before booking at all.

    Our Solution

We rebuilt the site around booking, embedded HotDoc natively, created practitioner profiles with new patient status clearly marked, published billing arrangements plainly, and brought the whole site up to WCAG 2.1 AA.

    The Results

Online bookings up 71 per cent in three months
Reception booking calls down by roughly a third
Page one for 'medical centre' plus three surrounding suburbs
Accessibility issues resolved across the whole site

    Frequently Asked Questions

A single practitioner or small practice site starts at $399 plus GST including a free logo, first year hosting and SEO setup. A multi practitioner medical centre with booking integration, practitioner profiles and patient information sections typically runs between $1,500 and $4,000 plus GST.

The National Law prohibits testimonials about clinical services, misleading or deceptive advertising, claims that you are better than other practitioners, and anything that encourages unnecessary use of a service. Before and after images are heavily restricted. What you can do is state qualifications, describe services factually, publish fees, list special interests and explain what a patient should expect. Most practices find they can say everything they genuinely need to say within those limits.

HotDoc, HealthEngine, Cliniko, Halaxy, Best Practice and Medical Director booking modules are all straightforward. We embed them natively rather than linking out, because every extra click loses patients.

Yes. Specialist sites have a different job, because the referring GP matters as much as the patient. Those sites need a referrer section with referral forms and clear scope information alongside the patient facing content.

The Disability Discrimination Act applies to the provision of services in Australia, and healthcare is about as clear a case as you will find. There is no medical specific WCAG mandate, but WCAG 2.1 AA is the accepted benchmark and it is what we build to as standard. It is also simply the right thing to do when a meaningful share of your patients have a disability.
